The Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation has committed $125,000 to support the launch of PCYC NSW’s new mental health program, GRIT (Growth-mindset Resilience Intervention for Teenagers).
Since 2003, the two organisations have collaborated on multiple projects across regional NSW that have been life changing for young people. PCYC has clubs in 21 of the 23 communities across the Newcastle Permanent branch footprint.
The partnership has flourished on a common goal of providing safe and supportive programs to disadvantaged and marginalised youth at risk of community disengagement.
“What better way to support our local communities and mark our 500th project than by partnering with the PCYC in our local towns to raise further funds and awareness about this intervention-focused youth mental health initiative.”
- Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation Executive Officer, Graham Batten
“We are delighted Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation has jumped on board to support the Star Jump Challenge to help raise vitally needed funds for GRIT, PCYC’s new life-changing mental health program”
- PCYC CEO Dominic Teakle
Parramatta Eels National Rugby League Club have chosen PCYC NSW as one of their new community partners.
The Parramatta Eels support will focus on the Health & Wellbeing community pillar, which includes PCYC’s soon to be launched Growth-mindset, Resilience, Intervention for Teenagers (GRIT) mental health pilot program – the focus of the Star Jump Challenge.
At the partnership launch Parramatta Eels CEO Jim Sarantinos said,
“With three PCYC NSW Clubs across the Eels catchment based in Parramatta, Blacktown and Fairfield-Cabramatta, this partnership gives us a great opportunity to connect with the Western Sydney community and deliver positive social change.”
